Who am I?
I am a mother, a wife, and an educator. I am passionate and I am caring. I love to witness the miracle of birth! I've stumbled into a passion for helping and educating couples following the birth of my daughter. Having had three very different births I knew that I had a calling to help others have calmer, safer, and more fulfilling births!
Am I a trained Doula?
I have been trained through DONA at the Center For The Childbearing Year in Ann Arbor. Certification is not required to be a Doula.
What is a Doula?
The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.
Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily. (dona.org)

What services do I perform?
Prenatal/ Birth Plan Development, Early and Late Labor comfort measures, Labor/Birth Documentation, Birth recovery assistance, Postnatal Appointment- Birth review and contemplation, Post-Postpartum assistance, Placenta Encapsulation and more!
How does it work?
First, we meet and interview each other to see if we're a good match. This is free.
If you decide to hire me; you will first sign an agreement and pay half of the initial fee to reserve your due date or you may also pay in full. The remainder is due before the on call period. If it is not paid, I will not be on call and will not refund the first half if you change your mind.
Typically there are two - three prenatal appointments to bond and prepare for the upcoming birth. I will be on call the weeks before and after your due date. You can call me during the onset of labor and I will be there for you as soon as you feel like you need me. I usually will stay a few hours after birth to assist with breastfeeding, take pictures, finish completing the labor and birth records and assuring your getting your rest. Mom AND Dad, that is. I would like to visit one or two times after the birth to review your birth experience with you and see how your adjusting with your new bundle of joy. Additional assistance may be available upon discussion.
